Two-Step Equations

We are moving on along.  Today, we began solving two-step equations.  Students have done well with solving one-step.  We are looking at having a quiz late next week possibly.

Quiz #1

Tomorrow we will be taking our first quiz of this unit on Algebraic Expressions.

Students were given a study guide today that is due tomorrow and can be worth up to 10 bonus points on the quiz.

Wednesday, October 23rd

We are moving right along with our Expressions Unit.  We have had homework assignments on Monday and Tuesday of this week.  All grades have been updated in IC. 

Tuesday, October 15th

Report Cards went home with students yesterday.  Those need to be signed and returned to their 1st period teacher ASAP.

We have begun a new unit on Expressions and Equations.  I am really looking forward to these next 9 weeks and to see the students grow.

Schedule Change

I have decided to give an extra day for the homework this week.  Rather than the quiz taking place on Thursday, we will be taking the quiz on Friday this week.  Therefore, the homework (orange sheets) will be due on Friday rather than Thursday.

EXPLORE Practice Test

Today students took a practice EXPLORE test.  The EXPLORE test will be given on September 26th.  The test today served the purpose of getting the students familar with the test.

Extended Response

On Wednesday, students completed our first extended response for this school year.  As a class, we completed the pre-write together and students had to write their response.  The picture below shows the E.R. that we performed.

4 Day Week

Students took Quiz #2 today and our FLEX DAY is scheduled for Thursday.  On Wednesday, students will be completing an Extended Response question.

Mid-terms will be sent home sometime this week.  It's hard to believe that we are already halfway through the first nine weeks.

FLEX DAY

Yesterday we had our scheduled FLEX DAY. This day is designed to allow students the opportunity to re-take vocabulary quizzes, re-work missed problems on their quiz, and get caught up on anything that they may be missing. 

Students worked very hard and we saw some great results from our FLEX DAY.  Keep in mind that students can re-take the vocabulary quizzes as many times as needed to receive the desired grade.  The only catch is that the students have to initiate the re-take.

I hope you are having a good week.  We are just 3 days away from a long weekend!!!

Friday (August 23rd)

Grades should be updated to this point in Infinite Campus.  Students will have an opportunity to re-work their quiz on Tuesday of next week to receive back half credit for the problems that they missed. 

We will begin the 2nd section of Unit 1 next week as well.  Purple homework sheets are due on September 3rd.

Vocabulary Dice Game

The picture below shows students participating in the vocabulary dice game.  We have been spending 10 or more minutes a day on vocabulary.

Vocabulary

If a student made a score of less than 70, they must re-take the vocabulary quiz tomorrow (Tuesday).  For those students that scored above 70, but want to improve their grade, they may also re-take the quiz tomorrow.

Rolling Along

We have had a tremendous start to the school year, and I am excited about what is happening in the classroom.  Students have received everything they need for our first unit.  They will be keeping this information in their binders unless they take it out to work on something at home.  Our first vocabulary quiz will take place this friday.  Students have a list of the vocab words and we have been working with those all week.

First Day of School for 2013-2014

Welcome to Coach Frick's classroom website.  I am excited about the opportunities that this school year holds, and I'm looking forward to great things happening.  I will be posting things on this site periodically so please check it out once or twice a week. 

Homework for tonight is to make sure that you have 3 ring-binder for tomorrow's class.  This binder is seperate from any other binder you may have.  It will stay inside the classroom. 

Geometry

We began our geometry unit today.  After today, we are down to 9 school days before testing.

On thursday, students will be taking the MAP assessment in the computer lab.

Spirit Week is next week for testing.

Probability

We are rolling on through our Probability unit.  I have been pleased with student achievement so far, and we will soon be moving into our Geometry Unit. 

Grades are updated in Infinite Campus and mid-term grades will be sent home on Friday.

MAP Testing will take place April 25th.

Mean, Median, Mode, Range

Welcom Back!!

Only 30 days left of school.  Where has the time gone?

Today we are taking a Common Final.  Don't worry, this will not be counted in the grade book.  This is to see where we are and where we need to go the next 6 weeks. 

I hope everyone had a great Spring Break, and I am looking forward to ending this school year on a positive note!!

VOCAB QUIZZES

Students may re-take a vocab quiz at anytime.  They must set that up with me.  We will not set aside a particular time to re-take. 

I'm still here

I want to first apologize for not posting anything in quite sometime.  I promise to try and do better.

We will be moving rather quickly through our matrial from now until March 1st.  There is still so much content that we have not yet covered.  For example, there are 6 units to cover and we aren't even finished with the 2nd unit yet.  So hang with me, and we will get through this together.

I have put several grades into IC.  I am allowing students to re-take any vocabulary quiz that they wish to re-take.  I will not set aside a special time to do this in the week, it will be up to the student to communicate that with me.
